Washers

A clothes washer or a washing machine is one of the most useful large appliances used in every household. The decision you make regarding buying a particular clothes washer affects two things in the long run, the number of years the washing machine spends operating at your home and your energy bills. So it’s a decision, which looks very simple but can turn to be a tough one on you, if it turns into regrets.

While selecting your clothes washers, keep into consideration the number of times you do laundry in a week, the kinds of clothes you wash and also the space limitations. There are two main types of washers the ‘front loaders’, which are more in use these days. They are also known as H-axis. Like the commercial washer in a Laundromat, the machine opens from the front. The traditional clothes Washer are the ‘Top loaders’, also known as the V- axis. The front-load washer has such a design that a dryer can be stacked above it. It can wash clothes faster and extracts more water too. Hence it allows you to dry clothes in a short time as well, and is good for saving your energy and your money too. The washing process is very gentle in these machines and requires a special detergent. It uses less water, lowers the utility bills, the only problem is that, the cost price of these machines is a bit higher than the top load ones. The front loaders have an automatic lock that keeps the washer locked during spinning. Top load washers costs less initially, uses regular detergents, and is less energy-efficient. Since it is a traditional design, it is available in many styles, colors and features. The automatic lock may be present in some of the newer versions.

While buying clothes washer, do check out the capacity of your washer that is measured in terms of cubic feet. For limited space, as in apartments, the stackable washer-dryer unit may be the one for you. It is available in full and small sizes. Some of the washers don’t require you to fill the entire machine for smaller loads, which helps in saving water. Water temperature adjustment is a very nice feature making sure that your clothes look better and last longer. Permanent press, delicate and extra soak or extra rinse cycles are the features, which are present in only very high class washing machines. If you are planning to keep your washer somewhere near your living area, make sure you buy a washer whose noise is bearable.

A clothes washer is a long-term investment. While buying a washer, concentrate on your present family but do keep the future in mind as well, like your future family size and laundry needs. A slightly bigger washer may pay off in the long run. Look for a model, which provides your cloths the care they need.
