Refrigerators, commonly called as fridge and freezers, are present virtually in every home. Life without them is quite hard to imagine. Refrigerator usually cools the foodstuff, water or anything kept in them while maintaining its physical state. It basically slows down the deterioration process. The freezer also has the same objective, but it freezes everything. The physical state, whatever it may be, changes to solid form because the freezer works at a temperature of around –18 degree centigrade (0 degree Fahrenheit). A freezer lets you purchase, store, freeze things for a time longer than what was previously possible. They are useful for both commercial and household purposes. You can also prepare and preserve food in bulk. Let’s say for a week and spent rest of the week without any tension of cooking food.

A domestic freezer that is the one for households is usually included as a compartment in the refrigerator at different position (Top, bottom or side by side), resulting in different models or they can be seen as standalone units. They are usually upright units resembling refrigerators or chest. Fridges and freezers are one of those large appliances that are bought once, so it is better if you think well before buying them. Even small details should be kept in consideration while buying, as they are those things, which will prevent you from regretting later on. First and the foremost thing to be considered is the space. If you live in an apartment or flat, your kitchen size is bound to be small and so is the space you would like your freezer to occupy. On the other hand, if you have a big family, small freezer won’t be able to full fill your requirements and a full family size freezer will be the one to choose. Even if you are a workingwoman, having no time to cook on a daily basis and want to cook and preserve food for the entire week, you might also want to have a full size freezer. If you like to eat your vegetable fresh and store only moderate amount of food, the fridge-freezer model will suit you more. So, it basically depends on your requirements.

There are two main types of freezers to choose from. The upright freezer allows you to take out all the items easily. It is provided with compartments and shelves to sort your food. The size is such that, it can be accommodated in almost every kitchen. The chest freezer offers and also occupies larger amount of space. You can store all kinds of oversized food items, even turkeys and hams. The only problem is that, the food is hard to access, especially the goods kept in the bottom compartment.
